R.I.P.: Longtime WOOD Grand Rapids Morning Host Bruce Grant

Bruce Grant
A legendary voice of Grand Rapids has been silenced.

Former WOOD  Radio announcer Bruce Grant died Saturday after a brief illness, relatives told WOOD Radio.

He was 92 years old, according to WOOD-TV8.

Grant retired from WOOD Radio in 1991, after 32 years behind the microphone. The seasoned broadcaster ruled the station’s airwaves for decades; his morning show was always number one. Eventually Grant scaled back to working part-time on Saturdays before retiring.

24 Hour News 8’s Joe LaFurgey was in the studio during Grant’s final show, when loyal listeners, politicians and co-workers paid tribute to him.

  1. My family moved from Grand Rapids to Tucson in 1981, due to health problems, but I can still recall Bruce Grant's wintery forecasts when he said, "it's cold enough to freeze your stacking swivel". Thanks Bruce, you are well remembered.
