Marital Issues, Quitting Job Led To Planned Killing
A conversation about a gun-silencer, a job resignation and marital issues lead police to believe Eric Stewart, 51, may have planned to kill Denise Bohn-Stewart, 45, well-known as a radio and tv personality.
Denise was a WCXT 983. FM host in Berrien County and a former WSBT 22 anchor and reporter for many years.
WSBT-TV22 reports autopsy results released on Wednesday afternoon showed Denise died from multiple gunshot wounds, and Eric died from a single self-inflicted gunshot to the head.
Eric resigned from his long-time job at Cook Nuclear on Monday afternoon, according to the company.
Eric had conversations very recently about difficulty in obtaining a gun-silencer, according to a police source. Those reasons, coupled with apparent marital problems according to police, is why they think Eric planned to kill the mother of three.
A child heard Eric kill himself, according to a police source, then called 911. The children did not see their mother, according to a source.
While police don't know when Denise was killed, witnesses reported to police hearing gunshots sometime after 10pm.
Police indicated marital problems may have prompted the issue, although no divorce or separation records were located at the Berrien County courthouse. Police also had no calls-of-service to the address in the past 5 years.
