Facebook Says All Viewpoints Can Use It Platforms

Facebook has issued a statement declaring that it was “neutral” and would not “use [its] products in a way that attempts to influence how people vote.”

According to Mediaite, the remarks were a response to a leaked screengrab showing that Facebook employees were voting for the question, “What responsibility does Facebook have to prevent President Trump in 2017?” to be posed to Zuckerberg in a March Q&A session.

“We encourage any and all candidates, groups, and voters to use our platform to share their views on the election and debate the issues,” the Facebook spokesperson said.

Zuckerberg said on Tuesday at a development conference: “I hear fearful voices calling for building walls and distancing people they label as others, for blocking free expression, for slowing immigration, reducing trade, and in some case even cutting access to the Internet,” remarks which were widely interpreted as responses to Donald Trump.
