Des Moines: Cumulus Launches The Vibe On 98.3 FM

Cumulus Media announces that KWQW 98.3 FM, formerly programmed as News/Talk station 98.3 The Torch, launched Monday at Noon as Des Moines’ all-new Classic Hip Hop station, 98.3 The Vibe.

98.3 The Vibe kicked off its totally unique take on Hip Hop with wall-to-wall music and will play an exciting mix of hit music from the biggest stars from the early days of Hip Hop. The new station features big old school Hip Hop hits, mixed with some R&B “throwbacks” from the ‘80’s, ‘90’s and early 2000’s. Westwood One, the leading provider of 24-hour radio formats, syndicates the Classic Hip Hop programming for 98.3 The Vibe.

Davey Morris, Corporate Program Director for Cumulus said: “This is going be a fun and thrilling time for radio listeners in Des Moines. As a company, we get uber-excited when we launch such an energetic, upbeat and familiar station. I know Des Moines will love coming to our party in the speakers. 98.3 The Vibe is born!”

  2. It looks like the Liberals got tired of the truth and also freedom of speech so they got it taken off the air and replaced with really crappy music as a sick joke.

  3. This is what happens when all the local stations sell out to a big conglomerate, I'm sure there will be more horrible decisions in the future as one by one they all change formats to something ignorant. And now I'm sure the guys at work who should be listening to rock and roll but don't will flip from the fruitcake dance club music to this crap.
