Philly Radio: Jim Loftus Joins WBEB As Pres/CEO

Veteran radio executive Jim Loftus has been named President/CEO of Philadelphia's most iconic radio station WBEB 101.1 FM MoreFM.

In his capacity as President/CEO, Jim will report to the company's Board of Directors and be responsible for all the day-to-day operations of the station.

Commenting on the hiring of Loftus, WBEB-FM Chairman Jerry Lee said, "I've known Jim for over a quarter of a century and I am very excited about the energy and ideas that he will bring to the table. I am confident he will lead us to new levels of success and I personally could not be more pleased."

Loftus began in radio as a teenager and over four decades has established an impressive track record of success highlighted by top management positions with Lin Broadcasting, Susquehanna Radio Corporation and nine years with Shamrock (now Times-Shamrock) Communications as Chief Operating Officer. Most recently Loftus completed a ten year stint as a Vice President at CBS's radio stations in Philadelphia, where he served as General Manager of WOGL as well as Director of Sales for the cluster. Loftus is very active in various Philadelphia charitable organizations and currently sits on the Board of the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters.

When asked to comment Loftus stated, "To quote the Pointer Sisters, I'm so excited and I just can't hide it. WBEB-FM is an incredible radio station with a rich history. I believe it is the most successful stand-alone operation in radio today. It is truly an honor to be offered this position and I'm humbled by the opportunity. I feel like I have been preparing my whole career for this moment. I am looking forward to building upon Jerry Lee's legacy and growing WBEB, 101.1 MORE FM to new heights."

Asked about the addition of Loftus, new Director and radio industry veteran Jay Meyers said, "For the station, this is the perfect storm with Jim becoming available. Jim's long track record of success wherever he's been, his impeccable reputation in the Philadelphia business community and his off the charts level of enthusiasm and creativity, combined with the legacy that is WBEB-FM, sets the company up for an incredible future."

Loftus will assume his position on Monday November 2nd. Until then, Meyers will handle the day to day duties of running the radio station on behalf of the Board.
