L-A Radio: Shotgun Tom Kelly To Assume New Role At KRTH

Legendary L-A personality Tom Kelly is leaving afternoons at CBS Radio’s Classic Hits KRTH 101.1 FM.

However, Kelly will remain at the station and assume a new role at K-EARTH.  He’ll become the station’s ambassador-at-large.

In that new roles, he’ll be representing the station at personal appearance, client events and charitable activities and he'll also be featured in showcase on-air roles.

After stints with several San Diego radio stations — KPRI, KGB, KFMB, KCBQ and B-100 — Kelly shifted to Los Angeles in 1997 and currently anchors K-EARTH 101’s afternoon drive time.

“We are grateful to Shotgun as he concludes an incredible career as afternoon host,” CBS Radio/Los Angeles SVP/Market Manager Dan Kearney said. “Anyone who has ever heard Shotgun Tom on the radio, watched him on TV or met him in person knows that he is the greatest ambassador a station could ever hope for and he’ll be perfect for this new role.”

No replacement for his 3-7 pm afternoon slot has been named.
