NYC Radio: WOR 710 AM Team Berman, Schnitt For Mornings

iHeartMedia/New York's WOR 710 AM, will debut its new morning show, "Len Berman and Todd Schnitt in the Morning," weekdays from 6-10:00 a.m., beginning Jan. 26th.

"Len Berman and Todd Schnitt in the Morning" will focus on New York and feature interactive programming, showcasing what local listeners are talking about in news, sports, entertainment and pop culture.

Len Berman and Todd Schnitt are native New Yorkers.

Berman is an Emmy-Award winning sportscaster and New York Times Best Selling Author who has covered just about every major sports event including multiple Super Bowls, World Series and Olympics during his 40-year career in broadcasting.  He was a long-time sports anchor for WNBC-TV and creator of “Spanning the World,” a monthly collection of sports bloopers, which is a long time staple on NBC’s Today Show. In addition, Berman was inducted into the New York State Broadcasters Hall of Fame and the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame.

Schnitt is an award-winning nationally syndicated radio talk show host heard on over 50 stations nationwide, which he'll continue to host via the show's flagship station WFLA Tampa.

He previously hosted the very successful "MJ Morning Show," which ran for 18 years in Tampa on WFLZ and included affiliates in Atlanta, St. Louis, Jacksonville, West Palm Beach and Ft. Myers. In addition, Schnitt has won numerous national awards from Billboard Magazine, Radio and Records and is currently listed at No. 19 on the “Heavy 100,” a list of the most important radio talk show hosts in America by Talkers Magazine.

"Len Berman is the perfect co-host, he is a well-known New Yorker and brings a ton of wit, wisdom and street smarts to the microphone," said Schnitt. "Together we are very excited to construct a new local, engaging and entertaining morning show for New York."

"I've been fortunate to broadcast for some historic stations and am thrilled to add the iconic WOR to that list," said Berman.  "Todd Schnitt has made his mark as a fresh creative voice in many markets and I'm confident he'll do the same in New York."

Berman, 67, told The NY Daily News, he is looking forward to a general-interest show even though he is best known to New Yorkers from several decades as the sports reporter on local television newscasts.

He was on WCBS/Channel 2 from 1979 to 1982, and WNBC/Channel 4 from 1982 to 2009.

He says it will be no trouble moving to more general-interest talk.

Todd Schnitt
“It’s something I’ve thought about quite a bit,” he says. “I've always been a ‘news hound.’ I’m more likely to tune to CNN than ESPN. I've always read the newspaper from front to back and I started my career in Dayton, Ohio, as a newscaster/anchorman.”

"This is the entertaining, informative and locally focused morning show that New Yorkers have been waiting for," said Thea Mitchem, Senior Vice President of Programming, iHeartMedia. "We are confident the show will quickly become an essential part of New Yorkers' mornings."

WOR News Director, Joe Bartlett, will continue to provide news updates throughout the morning.

Schnitt plans to continue his evening show on WFLA 970 AM in Tampa. The show is also heard in several markets.  According to Schnitt, “Locating our show in the heart of New York City will be a huge benefit to our national listeners and help drive ratings for our affiliates.  I look forward to continuing to work with Compass Media Networks, our affiliates and sponsors.”
