Atlanta Radio: Bloomquist Leaves Cumulus Media

Randall Bloomquist
Veteran radio programmer/consultant Randall Bloomquist is said to be leaving the Corporate PD position at Cumulus.

He has been based in Atlanta since late 2013 guiding News Radio WYAY 106.7 FM for the past year. He leaving Cumuklus for 'personal family reasons.

Under Bloomquist WYAY moved-away from all-news and added talk programming, including mid-day talker Michael Graham, who worked for him at WMAL in Washington when it was owned by Disney/ABC. Back in 2005, Graham was fired by WMAL for referring to  Islam as terrorists and refusing to apologize on the air. Street Talk has it that Bloomquist quit his job in protest because he wanted to keep Graham.

He also programmed WBT in Charlotte and WGST here in Atlanta during his career.  He previously was news format editor for the defunct Radio&Records.

  1. Cumulus could have saved themselves a lot of money and embarrassment by not hiring a proven failure like Randall Bloomquist in the first place. It's a documented fact that Bloomquist decimated every radio station he has ever programmed.
