TX Radio: Roger Garrett Sets Retirement From KORA

Roger Garrett
Roger “WWW” Garrett, Program Director and KORA Morning Show Host and John Seigler General Manager of Brazos Valley Communications, Ltd., Wednesday announced Garrett’s planned retirement effective December 31, 2014.

Roger “WWW” Garrett is the long-time Program Director and Morning Show Host of 98.3 KORA “The Texas Country Original”.  Garrett has more than forty-five years in radio with twenty-three years on radio stations serving the Brazos Valley and fifteen of them with KORA 98.3 FM.

Mr. Seigler said, “We’re saddened that Roger’s leaving KORA and Brazos Valley Radio, but extremely thankful for the many years of entertainment and service he’s given our stations and the Brazos Valley communities we serve. Roger’s a talented entertainer and wonderfully gifted communicator. We’re most grateful for his leadership and commitment to KORA. Roger’s been a valuable contributing member of the Bryan-College Station community for many years. His strong relationships with community leaders and organizations on our behalf will be missed. We’re excited for him as he explores a new phase of life. We’ll miss him greatly, but he’ll always be welcome on air at 98.3 KORA.”

Mr. Garrett said, “It’s been a good ride, well over 45 years of my life, and I am not done yet. This “retirement” is a transition to creating an internet radio station and a bible study series with “No Boundaries.” And, there will be a Roger “WWW” Garrett Oldies show coming to Oldies KAPN 107.3 FM in 2015!”

Roger Garrett’s radio career began in 1969 at KWRD in Henderson, Texas where he was the only applicant with an FCC license, which was required in those days. What followed were stops at KEES Gladewater, Texas, KRBE Houston, KROK Shreveport, KHFI Austin, KLDE Houston, KBRE Merced, California, and KAGG, KTSR, KTAM, and KORA in Bryan-College Station.

  1. I'm 56 and listened to Roger on 104 KRBE Houston in the 70's. He was my favorite DJ and I loved that station! Congratulations Roger and thanks for the memories!
