IN Radio: WEJK-FM Boonville Flips to Classic Hits

Classic Hits returned to Tri-State radio Monday after WEJK 107.1 FM — known as “Jack FM” — officially switched formats, according to courierpress.com.

Local radio personality Dave Westrich, who spun classic hits records for WJLT-105.3 FM until the station switched to sports radio in July, will be the station’s premier host.

The Boonville, IN radio station will play classic hits from the 60s through the early 90s, a bit of a broader reach than WJLT, Westrich said.

For now, there isn’t a morning host, but there will be news, sports and weather every hour Monday through Friday until noon, with updates at 4 and 5 p.m., something the station hasn’t had in nearly a decade.

“Jack FM” was an adult hits station without local on-air personalities or any local programming.

Vincennes-based The Original Company purchased the station in August from J.P. Engelbrecht’s Boonville Broadcasting Co.

The Original Company is a family-managed business owned by Mark and Saundra Lange, who now own 16 stations in Southern Indiana and Illinois.

Westrich will host from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. Instead of being confined daily in a radio studio, Westrich will be a mobile DJ, setting up at events, local spots or sponsored locations.
