After 14-years morning co-host Brad Shepard is no longer part of the morning team at CCM+E's N/T WHYN 560 AM in Springfield, MA.
"As of today, Brad Shepard is no longer part of WHYN mornings," said Jennifer Powers, director of marketing and communications for Clear Channel Media & Entertainment told MassLive.com. "We appreciate all of his contributions during his time with us and wish him well."
Shepard and Bo Sullivan have co-hosted the "Morning Show with Brad & Bo" from 5 to 9 a.m. weekdays since May 2003.
Sullivan will continue to host the morning program, Powers said.
Shepard had been associated with 11 New England radio stations since 1975. He joined WHYN in 2000 after seven years with nearby WMAS 94.7 FM.

DeleteI have been listening to them for years, then all of a sudden I just hear Bow on, thinking maybe Brad was sick or on vaca. Then this week I hear a hole new format. No explanation. Not fair to the listeners.

DeleteI Just found out that Brad is gone. I thought he was on Vacation...Bo Sullivan alone SUCKS!!! He rode Brad Shepards coattails from day one..He talks in circles & lacks the professional MC skills that Brad has. I don't want to listen to his Liberal view of issues all the time..Now there is NO Balance! BIG MISTAKE!!! SORRY WHYN but You LOSE!!! I've already stopped listening & switched to another local station which I'm sure most Brad fans will do. It's Sad when people just can't let a good thing be. ReplyDeleteBrad always came across as being independent in his thoughts. Bo has ALWAYS sounded like he's shilling for the local political machine. I listen to anything else before wasting a second of my time on a Bo Sullivan show.

It's a shame when a radio personalty like Brad get's cut for most likely making a comment on the air. Are the powers that be that swallow that they can't with stand was was most likely a true statement.

Brad not only gave a conservative view but he also gave us a liberal view on
certain issues when he believed so. That is a true American. So so sorry to see him gone. I do not enjoy the morning show as much anymore.

DeleteI thought Bard was on vacation so I kept tuning in every morning anticipating his return., only to find out he was "let go do to budget cuts". What a joke. You don't cut the star of a show. I suggest you should have cut Bo's hours. I won't be tuning in again. I'm not interested in three hours of " What is your favorite ice cream?" Brad, I know all your listeners miss you and wish well. Let us know where you are, so we can tune in if possible.

DeleteWhen Bo ran for public office, he wanted a ban on assault rifles. Because he is anti-gun, I've always been suspicious of him. I also thought that S&W shouldn't of had Bo do promos for their recent events. Never feed the face that would bite you!

Now we have Bo Sullivan and the other guy, the two of them can't bring what Brad brought to the morning show which was class and common sense. We now have a full fledged liberal who has political connections with the Patrick administration. I listen to Bo's interview with Gov Patrick about illegals coming to Westover that's all he did was throw him softballs, I guess that's the way the morning show will go. We will never hear the other side of the story, that is what Brad brought to the show. As of today this will be my last show I listen to. Brad you will truly be missed.WHYN you have bit off your nose to spit your Face. Brad please let us know where you are and your plans for the future?

ReplyDeleteBrad's voice in the morning along with his intelligent views woke me up and gave me food for thought. I don't think there can be a replacement for him. If he's gone for good, I feel like I lost one of my best friends. Only sadness for me! I only hope his health is good and that he has a happy life ahead. It's such a loss!
ReplyDeleteBrad had to have talent or at least be likeable to carry a dull sidekick like Bo for so many years. Even with the unprofessional news cast of John Bayback he still kept me listening. I kept checking in to see if Brad was off vacation yet but now that I know what really happened I will no longer be checking. It couldn't have happened at a better time to voice my opinion as my family is currently filling out 4 Arbitron ratings books for the week ending this wednesday. I will even listen to Howie on another station so that my ratings books will not have WHYN on them at all. Bo was only okay in small controled doses.
ReplyDeleteThe show is just not the same without Brad. In my opinion he made the show and when not there it was just not something I looked forward to waking up to. He was insightful, engaging and intelligent, and funny for that matter. Everyone at the station now is trying very hard and that is commendable, but for me, I lost one of my favorite parts of the day. It just isn't the same.
ReplyDeleteI can't tell you what a relief it was when I found out that Brad had been fired . The only reason he lasted this long is the balanced perspective Bo has given the show. The last thing we need is another Glen Beck, Rush, or Howie bashing the President and the government any chance he gets.

It's disturbing to find out that someone has been ousted with no clear justification and then covered over as a "budget cut". I'm sorry to say it, but like the comments before me, I won't be listening to this station as my morning enjoyment any longer. Sorry Bo.

Not listening anymore. Bo sounds like a character out of a Cheech and Chong movie. His sidekick is right out of college and really knows nothing about the area, politics etc.

ReplyDeleteI woke up with the mental stimulation that Brad provided, and it was a good way to start the day. I am worried about Brad. Now the morning show is so boring that I listen to 1360 out of New Britain Ct to hear Brad Davis. What a great disappointment! He has such a great memory and excellent mind. I feel like I lost a dear relative. I wish I knew why this was done with no explanation.

ReplyDeleteI was very disappointed when I learned Brad was no longer on WHYN. He was the heart and soul of that show. His humor, wit and intelligence are missing leaving the morning show sadly lacking in content. I have tried to listen since his departure but it is unpleasant to do so. WHYN will learn the hard way about loyalty as I am sure I am not alone in tuning in a different morning show.

ReplyDeleteSeems odd that Brad was let go the day of the "fire". Enjoyed him until about a year ago when he seemed disinterested. Also had a run in with his "dark side" in some less than friendly e-mails from him when I voiced my dismay with a comment he made about a former popular Sat. AM personality. Bo is awful and his grammar is worse! Three hours of favorite ice cream, fries, etc. just doesn't cut it. Will be flipping the dial to see if there is anything else out there for the early AM. Will not listen to WHYN until 9AM when the adults come on.

What a terrific radio voice and wit (and a vocabulary exactness mid-sentence that reminded me of Bob Steele on WTIC in Hartford. Sigh.... Now WHYN is just the usual junk until Glenn and Rush come on. Bad move, management. Bad move.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the majority...Huge loss for the station and the listening public. Brad was articulate, informative, and entertaining. Basically, I loved his common sense delivery. When the new duo comes on I fall right back to sleep...I predict the show will be short lived. I will be searching for a new morning channel as well.

ReplyDeleteOnly listened to quickly get some local news/weather, by the time I drove my 15 minute commute from East Longmeadow to Springfield, I would say out loud, "Oh, shut up" (usually Brad doing an annoying immitation of a foreign accent, or telling a stupid joke) and switch to Sirius radio. He was an egotist, Bo can't carry the show and Adam Wright is terrible. On his first day he was telling a ridiculous story about a time he smoked pot then about drinking games for watching an awards show on TV. Good Luck WHYN...thankfully there is Sirius.

When advertisers refuse to sign another contract and revenue drops someone will have to explain why. The only upside is the "shrink wrap" segment is also gone. Too late though, as a former listener of WHYN for 50+years I'll just have to find an alternative. Sebastian?

DeleteI really don't miss Brad Shepard and John bayback's childish temper tantrums all the time on the radio. It got so bad I'd have to turn it off and I found myself searching for alternatives. Unfortunately we have no alternatives in the Springfield market. Such a shame that for a fairly large metropolitan area we are still so backwards. We really need a good public radio station that deals with local issues of substance and is fair and balanced. our new host Adam Wright is growing on me but most of his programs are so lackluster and dull. they need to prepare better and schedule more informed and topical guests. Please!!
ReplyDeleteI've listened to Brad and Bo for years, and most of the time I enjoyed the show. I went away on vacation and came back, and it was no longer the Brad and Bo Show. I listened to Adam Wright show and it is so boring it's "AWFUL" I will no longer listening to WHYN in the morning any more. I will listen to another station.
ReplyDeleteI spent the summer away; I just returned and couldn't believe it when I heard the "Adam Wright" show on the air. I was devastated to learn that Brad was let go. Brad's quick wit, insight into local issues, and common sense were all very uncommon in today's world. Without Brad in the morning or Savage at night, the only reason to turn on WHYN is for Howie Carr and I can get Howie on iHeart radio. WHYN, you made a HUGE mistake and I suspect by now you probably realize it. I have removed WHYN from my preset channels as I will no longer be listening.

Now it is the 'Adam Wright Show' and the news and weather on the 15's and 45's of the hour has been eliminated to give Adam more time to talk about nothing. A morning show should be informative and give the weather every 15 minutes.

ReplyDeleteLet's sum this up. I don't know why Brad is no longer on the show. What I do know is that when he was, he brought balance and common sense. He was funny without being vulgar and the phone calls with Kathy were epic and entertaining. With him off the show, it's like losing a good friend. Like most talk show hosts he had opinions, but they were never espoused with the arrogance that I get from Adam Wright. Adam just comes across as pompous and self-absorbed. He's also hard to listen to and not entertaining at all. If this channel had ANY common sense, they'd go back to Brad and beg him to return. I did give Adam a shot, but now, I just listen elsewhere until the show is over. Please bring back Brad!
