R.I.P.: PA Radio Personality Joel Clawson

Joel Clawson
Joel Clawson was the friendly voice behind the microphone at WAVR 102.9 FM / WATS 960 AM  'Choice 102' radio in Sayre and a tireless volunteer in the community, but family and friends say he‘ll long be remembered for his compassion for others.

Clawson was recovering from heart surgery he had had a few weeks earlier when he died June 1. He was 74, according to stargazette.com.

His 50-year career in broadcasting began in Titusville, Pa., at WTIV 1230 AM and would eventually lead him to other stations across the region including Elmira, Horseheads, Trumansburg, Troy and Sayre.

“He was always into music and singing and was comfortable in front of people so radio was a logical choice for a career,” Kevin said.
