Millions 25-54 Joining Facebook

The rumors are true: Teenagers are leaving Facebook by the millions, says digital consulting company iStrategy Labs, according to moneynews.com.

Last year, despite studies and articles suggesting that young users are losing interest in Facebook, CEO Mark Zuckerberg denied the claims.

It “just isn't true,” that we have a problem with the teen market, CNN Money quotes Zuckerberg as saying.

“We did see a decrease in [teenage] daily users [during the quarter], especially younger teens,” he said. But still he described overall usage among U.S. teens as “stable,” CNN Money reported.

iStrategy Labs last week released data that suggest the declines in teen usage may be steeper than Facebook would care to admit.

More than 3 million teens ages 13 to 17 have left Facebook in the past three years, a decline of 25.3%. And the number of users aged 18-24 has declined 7.5%, iStrategy Labs reported.

The consultancy uncovered these findings in its efforts to refresh the data it released in a 2011 report on Facebook users.
