The former radio personality Dave Herman said through an
attorney on Thursday that he never planned to have sex with a 7-year-old girl,
as authorities have charged, according to northjersey.com.
Herman, 77, of Airmont , N.Y. was set up by a Bergen County
Herman, the former host of WNEW’s “Rock and Roll Morning
Show” was arrested last week in St. Croix, where he has a vacation home, and is
being held there pending a transfer to New Jersey on federal charges of
attempted interstate transportation of a minor with the intent to engage in
sexual activity.
Agnifilo said his client, who plans to plead not guilty, was
interested in the mother, not her daughter.
The attorney acknowledged that Herman had a stuffed toy in
his car as he waited for the fictitious mother and daughter to arrive at the
airport. But he said the idea to bring the toy came from the detective posing
as the mother.
He also said the detective, posing as the woman, brought up
the idea of sex with the daughter in online chats, and led Herman to believe
she had been sexually abused as a child and was involved in a sexual
relationship with her daughter.
