NYC Radio: Jeff Foxx OUT At WBLS

Earthquake
Longtime WBLS 107.5 FM PM Drive host Jeff Foxx is out.

On September 9th, Comedian Earthquake whose extensive fan base has enjoyed his unique brand of comedy for almost two decades, makes his way to 107.5 WBLS. ‘Quake’ slides on the headphones along-side New York’s darling Déjà Vu, Monday-Friday 3pm to 7pm.

Déjà Vu a chief personality of New York radio will blend her long lasting love affair with New York City with Comedian Earthquake’s newly found citywide experiences.

Deja Vu
"Earthquake's been on his grind for quite some time! He loves radio and I can't wait to help him realize his dream of becoming an afternoon star in New York City Radio!” stated WBLS Operations Manager, Skip Dillard.

"Afternoons on WBLS has always been the spot of legends, from Frankie Crocker to Wendy Williams," WBLS GM Deon Levingston  added. "Now it's time for Earthquake to write his page in radio history."

  4. we have gotten to the point where now articles that are written are full non sence, Déjà Vu a chief personality? u gotta be kidding me, mr. deon levingston comparing frankie crocker with someone who jocked howard stern for a black audience a legend? is a joke in itself. all it shows is today you can punk some of the people but not all of the people, this is a move for wbls to get back into the syndication game that has helped kill black/mask termed urban radio.

  5. There are no words that can describe how horrible this move is. I don't know who Earthquake is, but how about some loyalty to Jeff Fox and his followers. Also, how about having music people instead of comedians have the radio spots. Has music reached such a low point that we need comedians to laugh us into listening to the radio?

  6. I cannot believe this... Mr. Foxx has been a pillar to wbls and Mr. Deon Levingston should be removed from his position as a GM.. This is a bad decision on his part. What was he thinking? JF has been with WBLS for quite sometime now prior from that he was a pillar on 98.7 kiss fm which is no longer RnB now it is a sports station. What the Hell is going on with our black stations? I know it is going down quick and pretty soon it will be all white music we will be listening too.. SUCH A SAD LOST IN TIME AND HISTORY !!!!!

  9. I cannot believe Jeff is gone. I don't want to listen to a burned out comedian, I want to listen to a radio personality!

  10. I want to know where Jeff Foxx is going. Now that stations are online, I can find some way to listen to him where ever he goes. If anyone knows please post it in a comment. All of this is due to the downfall of 98.7 Kiss FM (WKRS) before it became a sports radio station.

  12. This is a travesty. I have listened to Jeff on the radio forever. He is the best no one can compare! Not sure if I'll remain a listener. We need to poll the audience before we make such rash decisions.

  13. Change is needed sometime. If you were more in tune you would know that Earthquake has been on radio. Maybe if you came out of your box and listen to other stations you would know that. Good move WBLS!

  14. Why?Jeff Foxx is an institution and the last black radio icon left in a long glorious line of of radio personalities wonder where J.F. will wind up?

  15. I don't know who this Mr.Levingston is he doesn't seem to have what it takes to assemble a radio personality line up. Jeff Fox brought a nice selection of R&B Classics to WBLS mature and knowledgable audience. Earthquake should continue to do standup and the professionals like Jeff Fox allowed to prevail and do what they do best which is play quality music. I seriously believe that Mr.Levingston took the WBLS music audience two steps backwards. Mr.Fox and Dejavu had remarkable chemistry as a team. Jeff interfaced remarkably well with the DJs on the afterwork music segment. Our WBLS audience deserves better Mr.Levingston bring back Mr.Fox a true professional. All comedians don't have what it takes to transition from standup comedy to a bonafide radio personality. The Steve Harvey type comedians are very rare and seldom achieve the same kind or come close to attaining that type of radio appeal.

  16. I knew something was wrong when I didn't hear Jeff Foxx on WBLS last week. I thought that perhaps he was on vacation. Then I decided to google his name and this is what I found! I can't tell you what a bad move this is. I am a mature woman who wants to listen to mature radio! I'm soooo not feeling Earthquake like that! Jeff Foxx WILL BE MISSED!!

  22. I followed Jeff Foxx from Kiss FM to WBLS and they now put him out to pasture???!!! Yeah, Power 105.1 does sound like the station I will be listening to from 3-until I clock out from work!!!

  26. Foxx will be missed. BLS is losing (check that) has lost its edge.

  27. WBLS is trying to be too many different things to too many different people/demographics. We lost 98.7 KISS and you cannot be both! Pick one thing and stick with it. You are all over the place and are missing it at every turn. You play one or two good songs and then deviate somewhere unknown. I cannot just put on your station and listen straight like I used to in the old days. Earthquake???? Really???? You're trying to fix something but you're looking in the wrong place!! Work on music programming and not personalities. If the music isn't good I don' t care who the DJ is!!!

  28. if I want to here comedy I go to the comedy club! Please cut it out! Bring back Jeff Foxx now!

  29. I am a native New Yorker living in Atlanta and have always enjoyed listening to the Foxx. WBLS should do the right thing and bring him back to weekdays. And for the station to compare Earthquake to the GREAT Frankie Crocker is simply crazy. I won't be listening on my way home from work. I have been BLS fan since the early days with Lamar Renee, Ken Webb, etc. BLS get it together and sharpen your pencil before its too late.

  30. I will certainly miss Jeff Foxx and his infectious laugh. Where will he be going?

  31. Since last week, I've not heard Earthquake on the radio. Is he still around?

  32. I heard Earthquake was fired. Now it is just Deja Vu in the afternoon? She does not possess the weight to carry this time slot alone. I like her but she needs to have a companion to pull it off.

  33. What happened to earthquake, why was he fired?

  34. WBLS will NEVER be what it was 35 plus years ago...Ken Spider Web..Mary Thomas.. Rickey Ricardo and the radio legend "Frankie Crocker" plus The Quiet Storm with Vaughn Harper!!!Even before 98.7 Kiss FM there was the Original "DISCO 92KTU"!! With Paco and Rosco..Thank goodness I have almost 400 cassettes with all the classic music I need!!
