After word got out on Tuesday, the singer confirmed the news
with a website post titled "Countdown to Touchdown," featuring a
photo of her face, along with the text "Feb. 13 2013," the date of the
upcoming Super Bowl. Earlier, a source told The Associated Press the
Grammy-winning singer will take the stage at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New
Orleans.
The 31-year-old sang the national anthem at Super Bowl
XXXVIII in 2004 in her hometown of Houston when the New England Patriots
defeated the Carolina Panthers.
