Report: Merlin Media Raids 1010 WINS NYC

Another sign that Merlin Media is ready to start an all-news battle in NYC is word that no fewer than five news people are being wooed.  Merlin is expected to take control of 101.9 FM programming and sales operations this Friday under an LMA agreement.

Merlin has also filed to become majority owner of 101.9 FM with Emmis to retain a minority interest. FCC approval is pending.
 
NYRMB web guru Allan Sniffen today posted that he's hearing, the following WINS people are moving over to 101.9 FM:

• Alice Stockton Rossini
• Catherine Smith
• Doug O'Brien (as managing editor)
• Kathleen Maloney
• Brett Larsen

 
We have determined their photos are missing from the 1010 WINS website. They reportedly will join Jeff MacKay who recently left Shadow Traffic where he appeared on WINS.

101.9 reportedly approached 880 AM WCBS', who declined to leave WCBS and insiders say has been given a raise by for staying.

Merlin apparently is already doing dry runs at 101.9.
