TV Ratings: Fox News Channel Draws Largest Audience Monday


FOX News Channel (FNC) was the most-watched television network for coverage of the first night of the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Monday, July 15th, according to data from Nielsen Media Research.
 
At 10 PM/ET, FNC’s special coverage FOX News Democracy 2024: The Republican National Convention co-anchored by Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum averaged 6,854,000 viewers and 1,236,000 in A25-54, ranking as the highest-rated show of the day and notching a 517% total viewer and 202% 25-54 demo advantage over CNN and a 438% and 591% advantage over MSNBC. 

At 9 PM/ET, Hannity’s exclusive interview with Republican vice-presidential candidate JD Vance delivered 6.1 million viewers and 1 million in the 25-54 demo, outpacing Lester Holt’s NBC sit down with President Biden by more than 100% with viewers and 58% with the 25-54 demo. Notably, the network held the largest share of the cable news audience (69%) with total day viewers, its highest share in nearly 10 years.

Originating from Milwaukee, Wisconsin the network’s programming drew a whopping 6,149,000 in primetime (8-11 PM/ET) and 1,023,000 in the 25-54 demo. In total day (3-3 AM/ET), the network notched 3,059,000 viewers and 472,000 in the 25-54 demo. This marked the network’s highest rated total day since the 2022 midterm elections.

Throughout primetime, FNC’s signature lineup crushed every hour among the competition, leading with The Ingraham Angle at 7 PM/ET (4.7 million P2+ and 724,000 A25-54). Jesse Watters Primetime at 8 PM/ET, secured 5.5 million viewers and 825,000 in the 25-54 demo. At 9 PM/ET, Hannity helmed by Sean Hannity brought in 6.1 million viewers and 1 million in the 25-54 demo. At 11 PM/ET, late-night show Gutfeld!, which aired in front of a live audience in Milwaukee, drew 3.6 million viewers and 649,000 in the 25-54 demo – its highest-rated program since launch.

At 5 PM/ET, FNC’s powerhouse program and the most-watched show in all of cable news, The Five, delivered 5.5 million viewers and 757,000 in the 25-54 demo. Following the hour, Special Report with Bret Baier had 4.5 million viewers and 648,000 in the 25-54 demo, easily winning the timeslot.

MSNBC Loses Half of its Audience in A25-54 From 6-10 AM/ET
  • From 6-10 AM/ET, MSNBC aired breaking news coverage and dropped double digits across the four hours, losing nearly 50% of its audience in the demo and 40% in viewers versus the 2024 average so far. The network delivered 617,000 in viewers and 58,000 in A25-54.
