StreamSaver Bundle Coming At 'Vastly Reduced Price'


Comcast will soon offer a streaming bundle that includes Peacock, Netflix and Apple TV+ as the Philadelphia tech and media giant continues to navigate the crowded streaming space.

The Philadelphia Business Journal reports CEO Brian Roberts, speaking at MoffettNathanson's Media, Internet and Communications Conference on Tuesday, said the new "StreamSaver" bundle will combine Comcast-owned NBCUniversal streaming platform Peacock with industry leader Netflix and Apple TV+ at a "vastly reduced price to anything in the market today." Comcast Corp. (NASDAQ: CMCSA) plans to formally announce the bundle and make it available to customers this month, according to Roberts.

The bundle will be available to all Comcast customers, Roberts said, including Xfinity broadband, Xfinity TV and customers with the company's new "Now" pre-paid product line.

"As people look at bundling and segmenting and finding value for consumers ... how can we add value for consumers and at the same time take some of the dollars out of other people's relationships and put them into our relationships?" Roberts said, adding that Comcast has been successfully bundling video for 60 years.

"This is the latest iteration of that, so I think this will be a pretty compelling package," he said.

Roberts' announcement of the new bundle comes just a week after three other streaming competitors announced they are bundling. Disney and Warner Bros. said they will offer a bundle of the Disney+, Hulu and Max platforms this summer. As the streaming wars continue to heat up, rivals are looking to team up in a bid to snap up customers.

Comcast has been investing heavily into Peacock as it battles to compete with the industry's streaming heavyweights, and it seems to be paying off thanks in large part to the company's commitment to featuring live sports on the platform. Peacock's subscriber base grew 48% year over year in 2023 to 31 million and revenue jumped 62% to $3.37 billion for the full year. After the first quarter of 2024, the platform had 34 million subscribers.

"It took us less than four years to get to 34 million customers on Peacock; it took Hulu over 10 years to do the same thing," Roberts said, noting that within Comcast's media segment, its studio and live TV businesses help drive growth for Peacock.

Roberts was also asked during the conference about Comcast's reported $2.5 billion bid for NBA broadcast rights and declined to comment.
