Sportscaster Rich Eisen To Host Marconi Awards

Emmy nominated broadcaster Rich Eisen will host the 2023 Marconi Radio Awards Dinner, presented by Xperi, on October 25 during NAB Show New York. Record producer and radio host DJ Scratch, who performed at last year’s event, is back by popular demand to provide live music for radio’s biggest night of the year.

In 2014, Eisen created and launched “The Rich Eisen Show,” which currently simulcasts on 55 Westwood One radio stations out of Los Angeles, Calif. and the video streams on The Roku Channel. Featuring a mix of sports, humor and pop culture, the show has featured guest appearances from top names in sports and entertainment during its nearly decade-long run. This year, Eisen was recognized with a 2023 Marconi Radio Award nomination for Network/Syndicated Personality of the Year.

Eisen will celebrate 20 years this fall as a mainstay on NFL Network, for which he was the first on-air talent added to the network before its launch in November 2003. Throughout the NFL season he hosts the network’s Emmy-nominated “NFL GameDay Morning,” as well as emcees the annual “Pro Football Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony” in Canton, Ohio and anchors the network’s on-location coverage of the NFL Draft, NFL Scouting Combine and the Super Bowl. During his career, Eisen has earned multiple Emmy nominations for Outstanding Personality/Studio Host and Outstanding Studio Show-Daily.

Previously, Eisen was an anchor on ESPN’s flagship program “SportsCenter” from 1996-2003, as well as served as host of Major League Baseball for ESPN Radio. In addition, he served as a guest host for radio programs “The Tony Kornheiser Show” and “The Dan Patrick Show.”

In addition to his broadcasting work, Eisen is an active philanthropist and has raised over $5 million for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital through his annual “Run Rich Run” fundraiser. In 2017, he was honored with the 12th Pat Summerall Award at the St. Jude Legends of Charity Dinner.

DJ Scratch
DJ Scratch has worked with some of the biggest artists in hip hop during his career, including LL Cool J, Busta Rhymes, A Tribe Called Quest, Wu-Tang and EPMD. He has produced 19 albums that have been certified Gold, including seven that have been certified Platinum, and is a three-time Grammy Award nominee.

DJ Scratch is also a champion of top DJ competitions over the years, including the 1988 New Music Seminar’s Battle for World Supremacy and The Global Spin Awards’ Turntablist of the Year in 2012, 2013 and 2014.

He has served as the resident DJ for three nationally airing TV shows and appeared in the Spike Lee film, “Bamboozled.” He currently serves as one of the official DJ/hosts for the digital series “VERZUZ,” which began airing through Instagram Live in spring 2020. DJ Scratch co-hosts a weekday radio show with Shelley Wade on Audacy’s 94.7 The Block in New York.

“Rich Eisen and DJ Scratch are sure to entertain and keep the crowd rocking as we celebrate radio’s biggest night at the 2023 Marconi Radio Awards,” said April Carty-Sipp, NAB executive vice president of Industry Affairs. “We are excited to be joined once again by local broadcasters from across the country and the industry’s brightest stars as we recognize the very best in radio.”

Established in 1989 and named after inventor and Nobel Prize winner Guglielmo Marconi, the NAB Marconi Radio Awards are given to radio stations and outstanding on-air personalities to recognize excellence in radio.
