Program Highlights:

With experience building some of the biggest shows at WNYC, Panopoly, Midroll and more, Laura Mayer's recently been exploring the business of podcasting in Shameless Acquisition Target. After years of seeing friends (and some enemies) get rich selling their shows and companies to other bigger shows and bigger companies, long-time podcast executive Laura Mayer has decided to get hers. To do this, she'll speak to straight-up geniuses in the worlds of podcasting, entertainment, and business to understand what value is in media and how to make it. At the end, Laura will sell the show itself to the highest bidder.

What’s Ethics Got to Do with Podcasting? A lot, actually. But because we don't talk openly about it, the most important ethical questions are being asked and answered when our creativity gets into trouble with the law or people's privacy or entangled in "brand safety." Juleyka Lantigua-William, Founder of LW Studios which supports and amplifies the work of creators from the margins, will lead a discussion on values-driven podcasting.

While podcasting as an industry is growing at a macro level, with increased overall revenue, and increased visibility in the cultural zeitgeist, monetization pathways are few and far between. The space is ripe for innovation, and yet the limitations of both platform mediation and insufficient analytics persist. Joining Podcast Day 24 to talk about unique business models is Shira Atkins, co-founder and Chief Revenue Officer of Wonder Media Network, an award-winning, women-led, audio-first media company.

Eric Nuzum looks at three common “podcast killers” mistakes made in producing and distributing podcasts that derail them and their ability to succeed. We’ll also explore easy steps to avoid them before these killers come for your show!

With five years at Pacific Content and now the co-founder of Bumper, Dan Misener's focus has been podcast audience development, he'll share some of his secrets.
