Chicago Radio: WLS-AM PD Peter Bolger Sets Retirement Date

Peter Bolger
Longtime News/Talk programmer Peter Bolger has announced his intention to retire from Cumulus Media's WLS 890 AM as of March 15, 2019.

The 64-year-old Bolger plans to relocate to Portland, OR.

During his 44-year career, Bolger's programming stints have included six year+ at News/Talk WOAI / Sports KTKR in San Antonio. 14-years+ at News/Talk WIOD and WINZ in Miami.

Cumulus Chicago VP/Market Manager, Marv Nyren sent an email to the staff on Friday:
In an attempt to keep you all informed anytime we have changes within our operations, I wanted to let you all know that Peter Bolger will be retiring from his post as Operations Manager/Program Director of WLS-AM effective Friday, March 15th.
I can not begin to tell you how appreciative I am for all the Peter has done for this station over the years and the recent rebuild of the on-air lineup
Peter will be moving back to Portland, Or to enjoy his family and friends and I can only thank him for all he’s done and wish him the best as he enjoys life.
With many years in radio (he asked me NOT to put the number in this e-mail) he has been a proponent of our medium and we will miss his calm personality and talent in the hallways.
Please join me in wishing Peter the best as he starts a new chapter in his life.   And yes, we will be having a ‘farewell’ prior to his last day.
Thank you Peter and we look forward to the next 5 weeks.
Marv
Nyren said while there is no timeline for naming a successor, he expects quite a few applicants.
