Westwood One, Charles Osgood Sign New Deal

This year marks the 50th anniversary of The Osgood File, hosted by esteemed broadcast journalist and radio icon Charles Osgood. Fresh off receiving a “Lifetime Achievement Emmy Award” from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, Osgood saluted his milestone achievement by signing an extension to continue broadcasting The Osgood File with his longtime syndicator, Westwood One.

“Charles Osgood is one of the most revered and adored icons in our industry, and since retiring from television in 2016, Westwood One is his exclusive broadcast home,” said Suzanne Grimes, EVP Corporate Marketing, Cumulus Media and President, Westwood One. “His massive appeal and ‘theater of the mind’ storytelling style has engaged and entertained both listeners and advertisers for five decades! As one of his biggest fans, I am thrilled to continue our partnership with Charles and consider him an invaluable member of the Westwood One family.”

“I’ve been broadcasting The Osgood File since 1967,” said Osgood. “I’m delighted that Westwood One and I have agreed to keep our successful radio partnership going. It’s been great working with their skilled broadcast professionals in the past and the present. And will be, I’m happy to say, in the future. Thanks to them I’ll continue to ‘see you on the radio.’”

The Osgood File is heard four times each weekday morning on hundreds of radio stations nationwide, including some of the most influential news and information stations in the country, like WCBS-AM/New York, WBBM-AM/Chicago, KCBS-AM/San Francisco, and WWJ-AM/Detroit. Each Osgood File focuses on a single story, from major national news to a whimsical human interest vignette.

The Osgood File attracts one of the largest audiences of any network radio feature, and Osgood's radio work has been honored over the years with two Peabody Awards, the RTDNA Edward R. Murrow Award, a NAB Marconi Award, and a Radio Mercury Award.
