SF Radio: Sports KNBR, PM Drive Host Tom Tolbert Re-Up

Tom Tolbert
Cumulus Media announces that it has re-signed popular KNBR 680 AM Afternoon Drive Host Tom Tolbert to a multi-year contract.

Tolbert joined KNBR in 1996, and Bay Area sports radio fans have listened to him weekday afternoons from 3PM-7PM for the last 20 years. Tolbert is known for his calm, cool and smooth on-air demeanor and his brilliance with hard-hitting interviews, along with the humor that is a major part of sports talk radio.

A standout at the University of Arizona, Tolbert helped lead the Wildcats to a trip to the 1988 Final Four. He was a second round pick by the Charlotte Hornets in the NBA draft, and had stints with the Clippers, Hornets and the Golden State Warriors. Tolbert is also the color announcer for all Warriors home games and has the fun job of interviewing Warriors head coach, Steve Kerr, who was Tolbert’s college teammate at Arizona.

Lee Hammer, Operations Manager for KNBR, said: “Tom has been a mainstay at KNBR 680, holding down the key afternoon drive slot for the past 20 years. I’m excited to announce that with this new deal, Tom will continue to entertain Bay Area sports fans for many years to come.  As a former NBA player, Tom is a member of a small club of former athletes who have enjoyed tremendous success as a sports radio talk show host.”

Tolbert said: " I'm incredibly fortunate to do what I do where I do it...Signing with KNBR for multiple years was a no-brainer."
