Philly Radio: Pat Gallen Departs WPEN For TV

Pat Gallen
Pat Gallen has departed his sports radio broadcast chair for a spot on Philly television.

Beginning this week the WPEN 97.5 FM The Fanatic personality, who is also a video host for Philly.com, heads to CBS3 to become a sports anchor. The Phillies Nation editor-and-chief has been a fixture on the station since March 2012.

A spokesperson for CBS3 confirms that Gallen will be joining the station as an anchor and reporter on a freelance basis. The announcement comes a week after longtime CBS mainstays Chris May, Kathy Orr and Beasley Reece parted ways with the station, followed by meteorologist Carole Erickson.

The shakeup came amid low ratings for the station's newscasts.

In addition to 97.5, Gallen has served as editor of the Phillies Nation website, created sports-themed videos for Philly.com, and was previously an anchor and reporter at WEJN 97.3 FM , ESPN's radio outlet in Atlantic City.

He started his career as a summer production intern for Comcast Networks.
