Hartford Radio: ND Dana Whalen OUT At WTIC 1080 AM

Long time WTIC 1080 AM news anchor, reporter and News Director Dana Whalen has been let go.

Officially, station management reportedly explained the layoff internally as a decision to eliminate the position of news director.

At least one other  CBS Radio employee, who is not part of the on-air staff, has also lost her job.

Whalen had been with the station for decades and is known for her near total dedication to the WTIC-AM news product. Over the years she has worked as a street reporter, news anchor, assistant news director and news director.

According to The Laurel, Whalen even wrote editorials for WTIC-AM back in the days when each afternoon drive ended with an editorial read by the station’s senior management.

  1. I was very surprised and upset to hear of Dana's "firing" for whatever actual reason. I could not search her name on WTIC site so appears she has already been "scrubbed" from records. Also did not see a place to complain about situation. I hope we find out reasoning and update on her progress elsewhere. Maybe we can get her back as we did with Jim Vicevich. Bruce.
