Westwood One's Jim Bohannon Celebrates 30-Years

Jim Bohannon
September is a special month for Westwood One’s Jim Bohannon.  The veteran talker is celebrating the 30th anniversary of BOTH of his Westwood One shows—America in the Morning on September 17, 2014 and The Jim Bohannon Show on September 22, 2014.

Bohannon, who calls himself a "militant moderate" and "voice of reason" among the clutter of daily talk, hosts both shows, Monday-Friday, on more than 500 stations nationwide. The Jim Bohannon Show is a unique mix of topical issues, newsmakers, and pop culture which informs and entertains a loyal audience.  Once the show ends, Bohannon moves into news-gathering mode while preparing for America in the Morning, which offers a lively blend of news, weather, sports, business and interviews.  America in the Morning features the top news of the day, reported by some of America’s leading news correspondents.  It's topped off with Jim's signature daily feature, “The Offbeat,” a humorous look at something just a bit off the beaten track.

"It's hard to believe that America in the Morning is 30!” exclaims Bohannon.   “We've covered so many stories in that time, from the Challenger disaster to 9-11, from Bergdahl to Benghazi, from Harry Reid to Prince Harry, and I'd like to think the best is yet to come.  It's been an honor and pleasure to help so many people start their busy days."

A recipient of numerous industry awards and honors, including winner of the RTDNA First Amendment Award, Bohannon has been a member of TALKERS magazine's Heavy Hundred every year since its inception in 1995 and received the TALKERS Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013.  He was inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame in 2003.

Bart Tessler, Westwood One’s EVP, News and Talk, said "Congratulations to our radio Hall of Famer, who consistently plays at the top of his game.  Jim's friends and colleagues at Westwood One salute him as we continue to enjoy listening to his wit and wisdom."
