Knoxville Radio: Ed Brantley, Bob Thomas Back Together

Bob Thomas, Ed Brantley
Longtime Knoxville radio DJs Ed Brantley and Bob Thomas are once again working together -- from serving the radio audience to serving Knox County.

According to wbir.com, on Monday, the two men sat for the first time on the Knox County Commission, in the at-large seats. The duo worked at Country WIVK 107.7 FM for many years. In 2010, Brantley and Thomas hosted a morning radio show on Classic Hits WNOX 93.1 FM.

"Being able to talk about what was going on in Knox County made a difference in our lives because we got informed real quick as a crash course," said Thomas. "It got us involved, talking to all the people who were movers and shakers."

They say the man who hired them for the radio so many years ago, broadcast icon Jim Dick, told them they were more than just disk jockeys.

"Being with Jim Dick every day, you learn a lot or you didn't stay around. And you also had to be willing to give," Thomas added.

Now, both men said they cannot wait to serve the community in a new capacity.
