One Year Later: Radio Host’s Killer Still Free

47-year-old April Kauffman
It’s been nearly a year since a South Jersey radio personality and veteran’s advocate was killed inside her bedroom.

April Kauffman's murder was a headline story for days. She was shot multiple times, her body found by a man doing work at her Linwood, Atlantic County, N.J. home. That was May 10, 2012.   She had worked at Longport Media’s WOND-AM Atlantic City until February 2012 (and WIBG LLC’s WIBG-AM up to May 2012).

April Kauffman’s family and friends are keeping her memory alive as the search for her killer continues.

NBCPhiladelphia.com reports the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office says an active homicide investigation is ongoing and that, at this point, no suspect has been named in the incident. Investigators say murder wasn't a random act.

Back in January, Kauffman’s daughter Kimberly Pack opened up to NBC10’s Ted Greenberg about the “devastating” death of her mother and the frustrations that the killer remains on the loose.

"You want to know that everything is being done and done correctly," Pack said about the investigation.

"There's not a second that goes by that I don't think of her, things that she's done, the moments she's going to miss in the future with my children."

"When you go through something like this and you lose somebody so close to you, I don't care if it's two months after it happened, eight years later, the only thing that you can't do is lose hope because that person that died like this doesn't deserve it and that's what keeps you going, is hope," Pack said.

Kauffman’s close friend Lee Darby joins in that hope.

"Somebody absolutely has to know something...somebody knows the truth," Darby said.

  1. Linwood Confidential:

April Kauffman's extramarital affair should be looked into. Unfortunately that will likely not occur. This case has been quashed by Christopher James Christie.

Why? The affair involved a certain republican congressman from southern New Jersey.

Kauffman was home alone, appears that she knew the person. No items were removed from the house, so no robbery. It was said by some Linwood residents she was also shot in the gential area. A crime of passion, perhaps. More likely Kauffman was going to make public this affair.
