Ian Punnett To Leave Mornings At KTMY Twin Cities

Ian Punnett is leaving his job as morning-show co-host at myTalk 107.1, Minneapolis-St. Paul.

A presence on the station since it launched a decade ago, Punnett announced during the 8 a.m. hour of the Tuesday, Dec. 11, "Ian and Margery Show" that his last day on air would be Dec. 21. He said his wife and co-host, Margery Punnett, would remain with the female-talk oriented myTalk and a new morning show line-up would be revealed soon.

Persistent issues with tinnitus caused Punnett to halve his hours on-air in August. Now Punnett said he's leaving the station to focus on therapies for the tinnitus and its symptoms that include constant headaches, endless buzzing in his ears and exhausting sleep issues.

"I feel lucky for all the years I've been on the show," he told listeners Tuesday.

Punnett first experienced tinnitus -- the perception of sound when no external sound is present -- at the Minnesota State Fair in 2009.

"I heard a noise, which I thought everybody heard in the loudspeakers, but it turned out only to be in my head," he told the Pioneer Press in September.
