R.I.P.: Gary Lockwood, Longtime Seattle Radio Personality

Gary Lockwood
Longtime Seattle deejay Gary Lockwood died last week.  He was 74, according to the Puget Sound Radio website.

Lockwood, who got his start in Seattle on KING-AM, had a long run at KJR 1976 to 1991. He started in afternoons 3-6pm in '76; went to mornings 5:30am to 9am in 1981.

In September 1991 LockJock was “yanked from his regular early morning show.”

Lockwood was off the air for only a month. On November 22 1991 he started mornings at classic rock KZOK 102.5 FM.

By 1981, Lockwood had reportedly won the title of Seattle's highest-paid DJ - his six-year contract netted him a minimum of nearly $500,000, plus incentives.
